About Jo
Jo Filshie Browning is the author of Scientifically Speaking: how to present your research with confidence and clarity.
She is Founder and Managing Director of Filshie Browning Associates and the Principal Consultant. She specialises in verbal communications skills, equipping her clients with the skills to enhance their content, competence and confidence so they can communicate effectively and authentically with their audiences and enabling them to enhance their reputation and relationships, credibility and careers, influence and impact.
Jo is a coach for senior executives, an international speaker and a consultant on presence, presentation skills, media and influence. Her knowledge of media training, presenting in-person and on camera, the power of language and creating emotional connection are in demand across all sectors.
Jo began her working life at BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning Insight News Television, where she trained as a journalist. She then moved into public relations and has held senior positions at GSK and in major international communications agencies in London and Australia. Her work brings together her experience of being both a journalist and a senior communicator, and is underpinned by an academic interest in her subject. Jo studied English Literature and Language at Oxford University. She also holds a Diploma in Public Relations and a Post Graduate Diploma in “Science and Society”. She lectures on science and corporate communications at an undergraduate level and held the position of senior lecturer at the University of Rhine Waal in Germany.
